Which one, honestly

A novel usually needs three files: a manuscript for agents, an ebook, and a print interior. At $5 each that is $15, so the subscription pays for itself in the first month and then keeps charging. If you have one book and you are done, buy the file and never think about us again.

Pro is for people with a backlist, a series, or a habit of revising — where you will come back next month with another edition. Below about two files a month it costs more than it saves, and there is no version of that worth pretending otherwise.

Questions

What does free actually get me?
The whole formatter. Every tool, every output format, the AI structure detection, EPUBCheck validation, and three plain-English adjustments. The file you download carries one short credit line and is kept for 24 hours. Nothing is watermarked across the page and nothing is crippled — free is a usable book with a line at the end.
When is $5 the right choice?
When you have one book. It is a one-time payment on one file: the credit line goes, adjustments become unlimited, and we keep it for 30 days. No account needed, and it never expires or renews.
When is $12 a month the right choice?
When you have several books, or one book and several editions of it. A novel usually needs a manuscript for agents, an ebook, and a print interior — three files, $15 at the one-time price. If you are formatting more than two files a month, the subscription is cheaper; if not, it is not, and we would rather say so.
Does a subscription unlock files I already made?
Yes, while it is active — including files formatted before you subscribed, as long as they were made while signed in and have not expired. Entitlement is worked out when you download rather than stamped on the file, so it follows the subscription.
What happens to my files if I cancel?
Anything you bought with a one-time unlock stays yours permanently — cancelling a subscription never takes back a purchase. Files that were only covered by the subscription go back to free-tier behaviour: the credit line returns on the next download, and retention reverts. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Is there a free trial?
No, because the free tier is the trial. You can format an entire book and read every page of it without paying, which tells you more than a time-limited version of the paid tier would.
